What was the first thing you thought when you saw your published book the first time?
That was so long ago, but I think my brain was just grateful the book was published and I had survived that whole publishing scenario. It took a week or two for it to sink in that I had a B.O.O.K and people were buying it!

When did you first decide to call yourself a writer? What prompted the decision?
I could always write. I wrote for my job and for the newspaper for years. So I was a writer. But novelist took until I had that B.O.O.K!

What is your best advice for someone just starting their first manuscript? Halfway through? Just finished?
Just write it! Get all those words down and write until the story is finished. You can’t edit a blank page and you can’t fix what is not written. Once you have the story, you have to learn to play by the rules of good novel craftsmanship. Then be prepared to edit it, over, and over, and over again.

  1. Yes, Yes, Yes, just write it. Keep the words coming out. It’s very likely it’ll read better than you originally thought. 😉 Good luck with Campaign, E.

    • Thanks for stopping, Jane.

Everyone thinks they can write a book until they try to write one. There are probably a gazillion of 3-12 page manuscripts that will never be completed because the author failed to keep writing.
