A lesson from Maya Angelou

I don’t remember who told of this advice from Maya Angelou; I want to say Alice Walker, but I could be wrong. At any rate, to paraphrase: “I realized I would die one day, and I could either waste the time I had or not.” I think of that idea often when I am trying to decide whether or not to write that day. How lucky we all are that she took her gut instinct seriously and did not see poetry, as so many do, as a waste of time.
